Hedon Women’s Institute : Hedon WI are holding a quiz night followed by a pie and pea supper, in the Alison Hall, St. Augustine’s Gate, on Monday February 9th starting at 7.30 p.m. Old and new members are always welcome. Eyes Down, Look In…. Holderness Lions will be having another “Farmer's Bingo” on Wednesday February 11th, once more at The Haven Arms, Hedon. These evenings are proving very popular, so if you’ve not been before, why not come along and see what you’ve been missing? The bingo starts at 8.00 p.m. and the cost will be just £1.50 for two books of ten games per book. Once again there is good quality pork to be won. Hedon Museum Exhibition : “Carnival,” a display of photos by Patrick Bryan, will be open until Wednesday February 11th at the Hedon Museum, so if you haven’t been able to see it yet this will be your last chance. The museum is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 10.00 a.m. until 4.00 p.m. and entrance to all exhibitions is free. Besides the temporary exhibitions in the upstairs gallery there is a permanent display of local history and artefacts which is well worth a visit. If you have never been to the museum before, the entrance is round the back in the alley off Watmough’s Arcade, off the corner of the car park – during the museum’s opening times it is well signposted from St. Augustine’s Gate. Public Meeting in Hedon : the Holderness Police Community Liaison Committee are holding a public meeting in Hedon Town Hall on Monday February 16th commencing at 7.15 p.m. to which all are welcome. The purpose of this meeting is to consult with local residents about how crime and disorder affects their quality of life and to involve the community in multi-agency partnerships to address this issue. There will also be a presentation on the roles of the Crown Prosecution Service and the Magistrates’ Court and you will be able to meet local councillors, senior council officials, local Police Officers, representatives of local statutory and Voluntary groups and the Neighbourhood Watch committee. Confirmation of date : one item in my column last week seems to have caused some confusion, so can I confirm that the Public Meeting followed by a Slide Show of photos of old Paull will indeed be held in Paull Village Hall on THURSDAY February 19th starting at 7.00 p.m., as publicised on the posters, in this column and on the front page of that excellent publication, Paull Wino’s News. Come early to get a good seat – this promises to be an entertaining evening for all concerned. Preston Parent and Toddler Group : parents of pre-school children are invited to take them along to play. The group meets in Preston Methodist Hall on Tuesdays from 9.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and on Fridays from 1.00 p.m. until 3.00 p.m. The cost is £1.50 per family and this includes juice and biscuits, plus painting, sticking, soft play, baking, a home corner, singing time and much more.
