Hedon Friendship Circle : The new session of Hedon Friendship Circle will begin on Wednesday September 4th. It will take the form of a members' evening and will be held at 7.45p.m. in Hedon Methodist Church.

Farewell Service : On Sunday September 8th the Revd. James Hargreave will conduct his last service at Paull before taking up his new appointment as Chaplain to The Wolds Prison, Everthorpe. This service will take place at St. Andrew’s church at 6.30pm. The Parochial Church Council welcomes all parishioners to this service, which will be followed by refreshments.

Entertainment for Gardeners : The South Holderness Garden Club invites you to meet Stephen Lacey, a TV personality, Garden Designer and Author, for an evening entitled “The Artist Gardener.” This will take place in the Alexandra Hall on Wednesday September 11th, meeting at 6.45pm for “drinks and nibbles” followed by the talk at 7.30 p.m. Admission, which includes a prize draw, will be £4.50 for members and £6 for non-members.

Digital Photography Competition : The closing date for entries to the Digital Photography competition being held in the Holderness area is September 11th. Entrants must have already notified the competition organisers of their intention to enter, so now is the time to print out your best digital “Transportation” photos and post or hand them in to the Hedon Museum for judging and exhibition. Good luck (but not TOO good luck, because I’m entering as well ... ) The entries – winning and otherwise – will be on display in the Upstairs Gallery of the Hedon Museum from Saturday September 14th until Saturday October 12th.

Afternoon Tea with the Mayoress : the Mayoress of Hedon, Mrs. Julie Marshall, has issued another invitation to join her at the Town Hall, St. Augustine’s Gate. This time it is for “Tea with Dorothy Wordsworth,” a talk by the authors Margaret and Robert Cochrane, which will be followed by Afternoon Tea. This will take place on Friday September 13th at 2.30p.m, and will be followed by a raffle. Tickets are £3 from “Sungate,” Church Lane, Hedon, telephone 01482 891050 or the Town Hall, telephone 01482 890365 (open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 to 12) and all proceeds will go to the Mayor’s Charity.

Paull Harvest Festival Service : The traditional Harvest Festival service at St. Andrew’s Church, Paull, will take place on Friday September 13th at 7 p.m., and will be taken by the Revd. Stuart Robinson. It will be followed by a traditional Harvest Supper in the Village Hall, at the corner of Main Street and Town End Road (opposite the lighthouse,) and everyone will be very welcome to attend.
