Correction (but it wasn't my fault…… ) The contact phone number for Hedon Rangers Under-13s' Football Club's planned "Flower Power" floral demonstration by Carl Wilde is 01482 898394 and not 89839 as published in last week's Mail. This evening isn't until next month: it will be held on Friday April 11th, in the Alexandra Hall, St. Augustine's Gate, Hedon, at 7 p.m., but you are advised to book in advance. Tickets will be £7 and all the proceeds of the evening are part of the fundraising drive to pay for the team's trip to Holland this year.

Hedon WI : Hedon has a thriving branch of the Women's Institute meeting regularly and new members are always welcome. On Monday March 10th they are being treated to a slide show entitled "Scratch on the sky," to be given by Mr. Keith Robinson. The meeting starts at 7.30 p.m. and will be held in the Allison Hall, St. Augustine's Gate, Hedon. This month's competition will be for an amusing holiday snapshot.

Mayor-elect for Hedon : at Friday's meeting of Hedon Town Council Councillor Ann Suggit was elected as Mayor of Hedon for 2003 - 2004 and Cllr. Gordon Thurston was elected to serve as Deputy Mayor. Cllr. Suggit will take over from the present Mayor, Cllr. Allen Marshall, when his term of office ends in May, and will be instituted in the centuries - old mayor-making ceremony at Hedon Town Hall followed by the traditional scrambling for pennies thrown from the Town Hall steps. More details will be published in this column nearer the time.

Friendship Circle meeting in Preston - advance notice : The next meeting of Preston Friendship Circle will be on Tuesday March 18th at 8p.m. at the Methodist Church Hall, Preston. Mr. Peter Key will speak and show slides on the topic of Cottage Gardens, and all are invited to attend and will be made very welcome.
