Week beginning August 9th 2004

Paull Summer Charity Night : tickets for this fun-filled family event are already selling like hot cakes, so to get yours before they sell out just call in at the village shop and Post office on Main Street (you can’t miss it, it’s the only shop in Paull!) The event is being held on Saturday August 14th at Fort Paull and will feature entertainment and karaoke by the GeeJay Duo, a pig roast and barbecue, a licensed bar, a bouncy castle and magical entertainment by “Mr. Magic” for the kids, a tombola and a ‘Mega Raffle’ with great prizes including holidays, weekend breaks etc., all for the amazing price of just £3. Admission is by ticket only, with children under 11 years of age admitted free if they are accompanied by an adult. The night’s entertainment starts at 7.00 p.m. and runs until 11.30 p.m. All proceeds are to go to Paull Community Trust’s projects. Why not come along and give your support and enjoy yourself at the same time?

Holderness Rangers Travels : by the time you read this, several of the girls of Holderness Ranger Guides will be in different parts of the world as representatives of Girlguiding UK and also of East Yorkshire. Two, Holly Lockyer and Caroline Harker, will be in India where they will be visiting the Guides’ World Centre at Sangam and taking part in community projects during their three week stay; another, Hayley Lister, will be part of the vast gathering of 13,000 Scouts and Guides from all over the world at the Taurus International Jamboree in Finland and two others, Catherine Burgess and myself, will be in charge of a group of younger Guides from East Yorkshire at the International Guide Camp in Ayrshire.
I am very proud of the fact that girls from Holderness Rangers get selected to take part in these International events on such a regular basis as it is a tribute to all the hard work they put in throughout the year as well as to their individual personal qualities.
Rangers are the oldest age group in Guides and Holderness Rangers welcomes girls and young women aged between 14 and 25 from anywhere in the Holderness area. If you, or anyone you know, are interested in joining the group, just give me a call on 01482 896712 and I will give you details.
