Sponsored Walk - with a difference! How do you fancy the idea of taking part in what is being billed as "The Shortest Sponsored Walk in the World" ? The "Blaze the Fire Walk Challenge" is being organised by the Nag's Head at Preston in aid of the Kids charity on Thursday October 24th . A Race Night is being held at the Haven Arms, Sheriff Highway, Hedon, on Friday October 25th . Tickets cost £2.50, including supper, and the doors open at 7.30pm with the first race starting at 8pm. All money raised at this event is for the Friends of Albemarle Fund. Tickets are available from the office in Albemarle, Baxtergate, or phone for reservations on 01482 896727. All are welcome at what promises to be a real fun night out! Exhibition of Lace : Hedon Museum hosts a new exhibition in the Upstairs Gallery, starting on Wednesday, October 16th. A fabulous display of modern and antique lace will be on show, together with demonstrations by lace makers during the exhibition run. A lace parasol made in 1880, a Victorian black mourning cape, Russian Braid lace a bolero of Maltese lace and a lace jacket of 1889 are just a few of the items going on show in the Upstairs Gallery of the Museum. The work of local lace makers is being displayed, together with the tools and materials of the craft, and visitors will be invited to have a go at lace-making themselves. Demonstrations will be held by members of the South Holderness Adult Education Class, whose tutor, Frances Bell has kindly lent the many items on show. The exhibition runs from Wednesday, October 16th to Wednesday, November 13th. The Museum is open every Wednesday and Saturday, from 10 am to 4 pm, and admission is free. Hedon Friendship Circle : The next meeting of the Hedon Friendship Circle is being held on Wednesday, October 16th and will be a Coffee Evening at Pauline's, 7 Church Lane, Hedon. There will be a Cake Stall, Bring and Buy and a Raffle. Everyone is welcome to come along and join us from 7p.m. Hedon Church Yard repairs : It is the intention of Hedon Town Council, as part of its responsibilities within the town, to initiate repairs to damaged or unsafe memorials in both Hedon Churchyard and the Hedon Town Cemetery.
