Golden Wedding Anniversary : Eric and Joan Grubb of Hedon, who married on April 4th 1953, have just celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary with a get-together at the Willerby Manor Hotel for over 200 guests including close family and friends. Family and friends travelled from all around the country to help celebrate this very special occasion. Eric and Joan moved to Hedon around 1976 from Preston. Eric is a consultant at J. H. Whitaker Tankers, where he held the position of managing director until his retirement around 5 years ago. Joan has lovingly supported Eric through out his working career and they have also brought up 2 children together, Mandy and Ian. We all extend our congratulations to the happy couple, and wish them many more years together.

New Vicar for Hedon and Paull : St. Augustine's Parish Church, Hedon, was bursting at the seams on Tuesday as the people of Hedon and Paull gathered to welcome their new vicar, Rev. Ivan Howitt. Representatives of local churches, schools, uniformed organisations and civic dignitaries joined parishioners in a service of dedication and celebration of Ivan's forthcoming ministry in the two parishes, which was followed by a more informal get-together in the Alexandra Hall.

Easter Fayre : there will be an "Easter Fayre" in Preston South on Easter Sunday, in the Village Hall down Princes Avenue (opposite the Safeway Supermarket.) The event will open at 2 p.m. and there will be a cake stall, Tombola etc., and fun and games for all the family, including a decorated egg competition and an Easter Bonnet parade.

Easter Cantata in Preston : On Tuesday April 15th the Thorngumbald Choir will perform the cantata "The Passion of Christ" at Preston Methodist Church, at the corner of Staithes Road in the centre of Preston. The performance will commence at 7.30 p.m., and all are invited and assured of a warm welcome.

Holy Week church services in Preston : on Good Friday, April 18th, at 11a.m a service of Holy Communion will be led by Rev. Ray Coates at Preston Methodist Church, and on Easter Sunday, April 20th the service at 10.30 a.m. will be led by Deacon Gwen Agar. A warm welcome is extended to all for both of these services.
There will also be several services in All Saints Parish Church : on April 17th - Maundy Thursday - a service of Holy Communion will be held at 7.30 p.m., on Good Friday (April 18th) there will be a service at 7.30 p.m., and on Easter Sunday there will be a service of Holy Communion at 9.30 a.m. All are invited to attend any or all of these services.

Holy Week church services in Hedon and Paull : on Maundy Thursday April 17th there will be a United Communion service at 7.30 p.m. in Hedon Methodist Church, with an invitation extended to the Anglican and Pentecostal congregations to join in.
On Good Friday an Easter Walk Of Witness will begin at St. Mary and St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Baxtergate at 12 noon, and there will be service of reflection and meditation in Hedon Methodist Church at 3.pm. Also on Good Friday, there will be a devotional service in St. Augustine's, Hedon, at 10.00 a.m. and at St. Andrew's, Paull there will be a "Last Hour" devotional service starting at 2.00 p.m.
On Easter Sunday (April 20th) services will start at 6 a.m. with a "Daybreak Service" on Market Hill, Hedon followed by breakfast at the Methodist church; at 9.30 a.m. there will be Sung Eucharist at St. Augustine's and Holy Communion at 11.00 a.m. at St. Andrew's, Paull. Hedon Methodist Church is holding a morning communion service at 10.30 a.m. but there will be no evening services on Easter Day in the circuit as most members of the congregations will be attending the "Easter Praise" celebration in the City Hall, Hull (tickets are available in advance, but it is also possible to pay at the door.)

Other Church Services: St. Joseph and St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Baxtergate, Hedon : Daily Mass times : Sunday 10.30 a.m., Monday 9.15 a.m., Tuesday 9.15 a.m., Wednesday 7.30 p.m., Thursday 9.15 a.m., Friday 7.30 p.m., Saturday 6 p.m. Hedon Pentecostal Church meets every Sunday at 10.30 a.m. in the Jubilee Room of the Alexandra Hall, St. Augustine's Gate; a Sunday School is also held at 10.30 a.m. every Sunday.
