Myeloma Awareness Week : The week from 21st to 28th June has been designated Myeloma Awareness Week, and to mark this there will be a fund-raising day for the International Myeloma Federation (UK) at 1, Ferryman Park, Paull, on Tuesday 24th June. You are invited to come along any time from 10.30 a.m. to 12 noon, from 2.00 p.m. until 4.30 p.m. and from 7.00 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. All are very welcome - please support this very worthwhile cause.

Summer Gala in Hedon : Hedon Playing Fields Association Gala is being held on Sunday 22nd June at Far Bank, Hedon. The Gala will be formally opened at 11.00 a.m. by the Gala Prince and Princess. There will be all the usual gala entertainment, and all proceeds will go towards a much-needed playing field for Hedon. For further details please ring 1482 890042.

Sponsors still needed! There is still time for you to offer sponsorship to that very intrepid lady Joy Coates, the wife of the Methodist Minister in Hedon, who on Saturday June 21st will be doing a sponsored abseil at Hull College to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Parish Church Garden Party : As promised last week, here are more details for the St. Augustine's Church Garden Party being held at The Paddock, Station Lane, Hedon, by kind permission of Mr. and Mrs. H. G Procter on Saturday 28th June. The Garden Party will be officially opened by the mayor of Hedon, Cllr. Ann Suggit, at 2.00 p.m. There will be a wide variety of stalls and entertainments on offer : stalls will include cakes, children's games, craft, plants, "white elephant," second-hand jewellery, a raffle and Tombola, and there will be a clown and a giant slide for the children, with the Lyn Wilson Dancers providing entertainment during the afternoon. Ice-creams and teas will be available throughout the afternoon. The admittance price will be 25p, with children free of charge.

Publicise your event here! We are now well into the season of garden parties, summer fairs etc. If you are planning such an event, be it large or small, and would like me to put a notice in my column for you, please let me know all the details at least two weeks before the event so I can let everyone know in good time. The same applies for any fundraising events being held in the Hedon, Paull and Preston area : my contact details are at the head of this column.
