Week beginning March 24th 2003

Ann Teale exhibition at Hedon : The Mayor of Hedon, Cllr. Allen Marshall, opened a new exhibition of the work of the painter Ann Teale in the Upstairs Gallery at Hedon Museum on Saturday, March 22nd. Ann Teale first studied Graphic Design as a student at Wolverhampton but over the years she has moved into the realm of Fine Art. Always working in acrylics, Ann began painting seriously about ten years ago. Her love of colour and her fluid brush style are used in paintings which emerge from the life and landscape around the family's fairly remote home in Holderness. Large- and small-scale paintings show the outside world of cows and chickens, boats and dinghies; inside, she finds inspiration in room corners and the human form.
A member of Hull Arts Circle, Ann Teale has exhibited at Ferens Art Gallery in Hull, Room 58 in Goole and the Arts Festival at St Peter's, Barton upon Humber. The paintings in this exhibition are for sale and Hedon Museum is open every Wednesday and Saturday, 10am - 4pm; admission is free and refreshments are available.

Open day at Hedon Town Hall : Talking to Cllr. Allen Marshall, the Mayor, a little while ago, a Hedon resident happened to say that he had never been upstairs in the Town Hall. That set the Mayor thinking - with the result that on Tuesday, March 25th, Hedon Town Hall will be open from 10am to 4pm so that residents of Hedon may come and see their Town Hall. At 11am and 2pm, the Mayor will give a short talk on the history of this listed building and throughout the day light refreshments will be available. There will be no charge - Hedon has a fascinating history and it will be a pleasure to talk to residents about their town.

Fundraising by Holderness Lions : Holderness Lions are having a Party Plan Evening on Monday 31st March from 7.30 p.m. until 9.30 p.m. in the Alison Hall, St. Augustine's Gate, Hedon. The evening is to raise funds towards their Zone Charity - Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. There will be a variety of stalls on the evening, including "Jackie's Fashions," jewellery, a cake stall, books, plants, bric-a-brac etc. Admission is free, and tea and coffee will be available during the evening. There will also be an appearance of "David - the Wonder Dog!"
