Hedon Friendship Circle : The next meeting of the Hedon Friendship Circle will be a Treasure Hunt round Hedon on Wednesday, May 28th. Please meet at the Chapel at 7.45p.m for a pleasant walk round the town following clues set by Audrey and (hopefully) arriving back at the Chapel for a cuppa. Hedon Museum : Finding Hedon Museum for the first time can be quite a challenge! But that's where history comes in- and you are looking for a museum after all! The Museum was built by extending the Town Hall caretaker's cottage at the rear of the Town Hall, thanks to the generosity of the Town Council. This explains why the front door is at the back . The approach is from Iveson Close car park or from George Street, along a mediaeval lane known as Blue Ball Entry. The Blue Ball was an inn which stood on the site of the present Alison Hall in Hedon's main street, St. Augustine's Gate. The streets of Hedon are featured in 'The Baxtergate Treasure' exhibition and the pubs are a feature of the new 'Hedon Room' recently opened in the Museum. To coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Museum is displaying artefacts and documents which celebrate her coronation and that of previous monarchs in the Upstairs Gallery at the Museum. The exhibition opens on Wednesday, June 4th. So why not check on these aspects of local and national history by visiting the Museum, which is open every Wednesday and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., when advertising boards direct your way and refreshments are available. Holderness Rangers in London : Holly and Emily, two of the girls from Paull-based Holderness Rangers, made their "London debut" at the weekend when they took part in the Annual Review for Girlguiding UK at the Mermaid Theatre. The theme of the event was "Our Year of Surprises" and they had been invited to speak about the day they spent gliding. They went well prepared with a script and photos, but what they hadn't known was that they were the ONLY Rangers speaking, having been specially selected from the whole of the UK! They spoke extremely well and even got quite a few laughs, and I was VERY proud of them. They were both delighted and surprised when the Chief Guide made a point of finding them after the event and congratulated them on their speech. A very successful day ended with a trip on the London Eye and a restaurant meal before we came back to Hull. New flag presented : Members of Paull Parish Council presented the Holderness Ranger unit with a Guide Standard on Tuesday. The unit, founded in 1995, has never had its own flag so when the Parish Council discovered that the girls had to carry a borrowed flag at last year's Remembrance Day parade in the village they decided to buy them one. The Chairman of the Parish Council, Cllr. Graham Shaw, presented the flag and in a short speech said how pleased he was to be able to do so, and what a credit the unit was to the village and the area in general. After the flag presentation the Rangers in turn made a surprise presentation of their own, when they invited Paull's long-serving Parish Clerk, Mrs. Doris Franks, to be their "Guiding Ambassador" and presented her with a special trefoil badge to mark the occasion. Church Services : On Thursday May 29th there
