Week beginning June 28th 2004

Hedon Parish Church Garden Party : this year’s garden party will be held on Saturday July 3rd (please note that the date of this annual event is later than usual.) The venue will once more be The Paddock, Souttergate, Hedon, by kind permission of Mr. and Mrs. H.G. Procter.
Admittance will cost 30p, with children able to go free : you simply pay at the gate, which opens at 2.00 p.m. Once again the day offers fun for all the family with a programme of events which will include the Lynne Wilson Dancers, Boxo the Clown, a Giant Slide, Cream Teas, games, homemade cakes and crafts, plants for sale and many other stalls and entertainments.

Paull Parish Church Garden Party is another annual event which is taking place later than usual, this year on Saturday July 10th in order to avoid clashing with Hedon’s Church Garden Party. The Paull Garden Party will be held once more in the garden of 1 Humber View, the home of Mr. and Mrs Dud Hulme, with their kind permission. The event will be formally opened at 2.00 p.m. by the vicar and admission costs just 20p. There will be all the usual garden party stalls – vegetables and produce, an excellent Tombola, a raffle and various games. Once again, the very popular strawberry cream teas will be available, so make sure you come early or they just might sell out before you have a chance to enjoy yours!

BP Midsummer Ball : management and staff from BP Chemicals, Saltend, gathered at Lambert House, on Sheriff Highway, Hedon, last Friday, together with members of the local community for their annual Midsummer Ball. The venue was as always superb, the food gets more delicious each year, and as one of the invited guests I can personally vouch for the fact that an excellent time was had by all. The dinner and ball was not only an occasion for BP to welcome and play host to their neighbours but also to present their annual awards to members of their own staff who have been outstanding in their work within their own communities and charities.
