Week beginning June 30th 2003

Myeloma Awareness week : The fund-raising event held at 1 Ferryman Park, Paull, was very successful and Beryl would like to thank everyone who supported the event in any way. The magnificent sum of £250 was raised and will be sent to the International Myeloma Foundation (UK) to help it provide and improve information and support services for people living with myeloma, their families and carers, establish the role of myeloma specialist nurses in cancer networks throughout the UK, continue to fund the best and most promising areas of myeloma research and continue to raise awareness of myeloma among the general public and healthcare professionals.

BP Midsummer Ball : management and staff from BP Chemicals, Saltend, gathered at Lambert House, Hedon, last Friday, together with members of the local community for their annual Midsummer Ball. The venue was superb, the food delicious and as one of the invited guests, I can personally vouch for the fact that an excellent time was had by all. The occasion was not only an occasion for BP to welcome and play host to their neighbours but also to present their annual awards to members of their staff who have been outstanding in work within their own communities and charities.

Photos of some of the guests can be seen here.

Paull Church Garden Party : a garden party in aid of St. Andrew's Church, Paull, will be held on Saturday July 5th at 1 Humber View, the home of Mr. and Mrs Dud Hulme, with their kind permission. The event will be formally opened at 2.00 p.m. by the vicar, admission costs just 20p, and there will be all the usual garden party stalls - vegetables and produce, Tombola, a raffle and various games. Once again, the very popular strawberry cream teas will be available, so make sure you come early!

Hedon Summer Fayre : The Inmans School Summer Fayre will take place on Sunday July 6th between 1.00 pm and 4.00 pm. (Inmans School is situated on Inmans Road Hedon.) Events at the Fayre will include children's rides, bouncy castles, donkey rides, ferret bingo, face painting, nail art, country dancing, craft stalls, side shows and balloon racing. Refreshments will available and these will include cream teas as well as the usual drinks and ice cream for the children. There will also be a car boot sale in the school car park which costs £5 per car: as spaces are limited we suggest people wishing to take part ring the school on 899485 to book a place. The Summer Fayre is organised by The Friends of Inmans School and they hope everyone will come along and have a fun and enjoyable day.
