Volleyball players wanted : Hedon Volleyball Club are looking for new members : the club, which meets in the South Holderness School gym every Sunday night from 5 p.m. onwards, is open to members of all abilities aged 16 years and over : beginners are welcome to come along and take up the sport. The gift of a Walnut Tree : In Watson Park, Hedon, at the corner of Magdalen Lane and Baxtergate, the Mayor of Hedon Cllr. Allen Marshall has received and planted a walnut tree to replace a fallen Horse Chestnut tree. The new tree is a gift from Mr. Andrew and Mrs. Hazel Armstrong, and thanks to their generosity visitors and residents alike will be able to enjoy seeing the tree grow to maturity and maybe even produce lots of walnuts for harvesting. Reminder - Party Plan Evening : on Monday 31st March the Holderness Lions are holding a "Party Plan Evening" between 7.30 and 9.30 p.m. in the Alison Hall, Hedon, to raise funds for their Zone Charity, Hearing Dogs for the Deaf. There will be a variety of stalls and admission is free, with tea and coffee available throughout the evening. There will also be an appearance of "David - the Wonder Dog". Hedon Coffee Morning : There will be a coffee morning at The Paddock, Souttergate, Hedon, on Tuesday April 1st from 10.30 a.m. until 12.00 noon to raise funds for the St. Augustine's Church garden party expenses. Please do come along - it promises to be a pleasant morning, and it is an important fundraiser for Hedon Church. Osteoporosis Open Meeting : Hedon Methodist Friendship Circle will host an Open Meeting on Wednesday, April 2nd, at 7.45 p.m. in the Methodist Church Hall, Church Lane, Hedon. The speaker will be Professor Purdie who will talk about Osteoporosis. Everyone is welcome. Choir to sing in Preston : Beverley Male Voice Choir will be singing at All Saints' Church, Preston, on Friday April 25th at 7.30 p.m., and in view of the expected popularity of this events tickets are going on sale now, so you are advised to book early! Tickets will be £7 at the door or £6 in advance, to include supper and a glass of wine. The concert promises to be very enjoyable, but as church pews are not renowned for their comfort, you are advised to bring a cushion!
